When India lost its third wicket, the Indian management threw a surprise by promoting Vijay Shankar up the order. It turned out to be a brilliant move as Shankar continued his good form. He scored some scintillating boundaries. Kohli and Shankar added 81 runs for the fourth wicket. But, the bulk of runs scored by the Tamil Nadu all-rounder sums up Shankar's performance.

When Shankar looked set to score big, Indian captain smashed Adam Zampa straight down the ground. Zampa deflected the ball towards the stump and the third umpire declared Shankar run out. It was the most unfortunate way to end a very fluent innings.

He must be feeling really unlucky with the World Cup selection round the corner. He had a nice opportunity to seal the spot. The partnership helped India to post respectable 250 runs on the board on this tricky wicket which turned out to be a match-winning score.
