The match was the second semi-final of the tournament which was scheduled for 15 June, 2017, at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This was Bangladesh's first-ever appearance in the semi-final of any ICC tournament. India won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh scored 264/7 in 50 overs where most of their contributions came from Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 70 and 61 respectively. India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kedar Jadhav took two wickets each, and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Shakib Al Hasan.
