Veteran keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has been more than decent with the gloves and missed very few chances behind the stumps. With the bat, he has not got the opportunity to face quite a few deliveries, as was seen in both South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, in the all-rounders' department, Tamil Nadu’s Vijay Shankar, on the back of his decent performance in the opening game, is likely to be retained in the playing XI. In the two overs that he bowled, Shankar leaked only15 runs. With the willow, he didn’t get to face any deliveries.
The other obvious choice for an all-rounder is the young Washington Sundar, who returned with figures of 2/28 in the opening game but did not get to bat.
