The southpaw from Delhi made his comeback into the Indian Test set-up after a 2-year layoff in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand. He managed a half-century in the 2^nd innings of the match, but despite that, he would have hoped for a better showing.

After putting in a good run in the Ranji Trophy with Delhi, he was named in the squad for the Test series against England and he is the favourite to open the innings along with Murali Vijay.

With the absence of KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir could not have asked for a better chance to extend his Test career for India. Although, if he fails to perform, we could see the end of Gautam Gambhir in the Indian whites.
