India beat New Zealand by 190 runs in the fifth and final ODI and sealed the five-match series 3-2. It was a complete team performance by India in the final ODI as every member of the team contributed to the success.
It all began with Rohit Sharma’s 70 off 65 balls before Virat Kohli scored his third fifty of the series and set a platform for a big total on the board. A mini batting collapse made sure that India are out of contention to reach the 300-run mark. Axar Patel and Kedar Jadhav’s late blitz helped India reach a competitive total of 269-5 in their 50 overs.
The Indian bowlers came out all guns blazing as they struck at regular intervals. Umesh Yadav started the proceedings when he dismissed Martin Guptill in the very first over of the innings. New Zealand were 63-2 when the Indian spinners triggered a batting collapse.
In the next 51 balls, the visitors managed to score just 16 runs and lost their last 8 wickets and handed India a 190-run win. Amit Mishra was declared the Man of the Man for his figures of 5-19. He was also the Man of the Series for taking 15 wickets in the series.
