The Kiwis have managed to avoid defeat against India when it comes to T20 World Cups. The two teams have locked horns in the tournament thrice, in 2007 , 2016 and 2021. The inaugural champions will be eager to set the record straight against New Zealand in the upcoming editions of the T20 World Cup.
Here is the table of all encounters between India and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup:

New Zealand | 8 wickets | v India | Dubai | Dubai | 31 Oct 2021 | won |
New Zealand | 47 runs | v India | Nagpur | India | 15 Mar 2016 | won |
New Zealand | 10 runs | v India | Johannesburg | South Africa | 16 Sep 2007 | lost |
The 2021 encounter between India and New Zealand proved to be a depressing affair for the Men in Blue and their fans. After suffering a defeat to arch-rivals Pakistan in their campaign opener, the match against the Kiwis became a virtual knockout for the 2007 champions.
However, the match proved to be an absolute nightmare as the Indian batsmen showed no fight whatsoever against a skillful and disciplined New Zealand attack.
The inaugural champions huffed and puffed their way to 7/110 in 20 overs, which was never going to be enough against an experienced New Zealand line-up. And it didn't, as the Kiwis romped home by eight wickets, booting India out of the tournament in the process.
IND vs NZ T20 World Cup - 2016
Team India had their worst outing with the bat in the T20 World Cups when they faced the Kiwis in Nagpur in 2016.
Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat first. Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Raina and Ashish Nehra picked the top three and New Zealand were tottering at 35/3 in under 7 overs.
However, Corey Anderson (34 off 42), Mitchell Santner (18 off 17) and Luke Ronchi (21* off 11) took them to 126 at the end of their 20 overs. On a turning track, the Indian batters failed to get the hang of the pitch and kept losing regular wickets right from the first over. MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Ashwin were the only players to get into double figures as India were skittled out for a paltry 79.
IND vs NZ T20 World Cup - 2007
India were handed their only loss of the T20 World Cup 2007 by New Zealand. The BlackCaps were put into bat on a belter of a pitch.
The Kiwi batters were up to the task, led by Brendon McCullum (45 off 31), Craig McMillan (44 off 23) and Jacob Oram (35 off 15) as New Zealand finished with 190 on the board. The Indian openers came out all guns blazing, sharing an opening stand of 76 in just 5.5 overs.
Gautam Gambhir (51 off 33) and Virender Sehwag (40 off 17) did not get much help from the middle order and the eventual champions fell short of the Kiwi total by just 10 runs in the end.
