India Vs South Africa : The Learning Experience

Aditi

India lost the one day series and missed the chance to create a history in South Africa, but team got huge success in learning various things from this tour. Team India has gained tremendously from their experience in South Africa.

Now the expectations will be high for the world cup from the Indian cricket fans because India is playing at home and it was a close contest between both the teams in last four one-dayers except from the first one day match at Durban where South Africa trash team India badly.

Most of the matches Test, ODIs and T-20, we saw that teams were fighting for the victory in front of full stadium and under pressure situations.

The biggest outcome from this series is that team India tried to play quality cricket, they faced keen and cut-throat competition from opposition and team also got strong support from their fans.

Looking back to the one-day series against South Africa batting order (opening batting order) failed to give stable start in each and every game. In the absence of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag other opening batsman failed to do their job which pressurized the middle order. Despite of the pressure the middle order batsman was trying to repair the damage and gave a foundation for the innings.

It was a mix performance by bowling department in the whole series. Munaf Patel with his 11 wickets is the highest wicket-taker for India in the series and supported by other bowlers as well.

The major positive aspect which may help team India in the world cup is the support from part-time bowlers and bowling in death overs which bowlers have proved in the South African series.

Last but not the least the performance of Yusuf Pathan in the last one dayer. He fought like a lion. It was a one man show. When he came for the batting India was struggling but he took the score to 235 runs. His electrifying performance helped India to survive from comprehensive defeat.

So from this series India learnt many things and we still have time to work on these things to improve the team performance. The series gave opportunity to youngsters to improve their techniques and also gave options to selectors to give a chance to other players after the world cup. Conditions are favorable for team India. “So let’s hope for the Best.
