Mohammad Shami: 8/10
After coming back from the injury, Shami did struggle initially in the series and looked out of rhythm up front. However, as the series progressed, he got better with every innings and picked up eight wickets in the two Tests he was selected for. If India wish to win in South Africa, Shami would be crucial and his fitness will need to be top notch throughout the series.
Umesh Yadav: 5/10
Umesh Yadav's performance in the series was mediocre by his standards. He picked up five wickets in two Tests at an average of 35.4. Considering the bouncy nature of South African tracks, Yadav can be dangerous with his extra pace and can trouble the opposition with short stuff. It is imperative that he gets back to his best before that series commences.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 9/10
Even though Bhuvneshwar played only one Test, he made a huge impact. He picked up eight wickets in his only Test and received the man of the match for his performance in the game. He is in sensational form and would be one of the front-line bowlers for the overseas tour, courtesy his immense ability to swing the new ball.
Ishant Sharma: 8/10
Ishant Sharma looked in good touch after being ignored in the first Test. With a successful stint in Ranji, the lanky pacer continued his dominant form and looked a different bowler in this series. His seam position and accurate length were the highlights of his effort. The veteran picked up eight wickets in the two Tests that he played. Ishant is the most experienced India player in the seam department and that would empower him to lead from the front on the upcoming overseas tours.
