Chamika Karunaratne was arguably the worst bowler on display for the visitors in Lucknow. While being wicketless, the all-rounder gave away 46 runs in his quota of four overs at an economy of 11.5.

It was Karunaratne's over where India gained some fearsome momentum, following two quality overs by Dusmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara. The 25-year-old gave away 15 runs in his first over, where Kishan clubbed him for three consecutive boundaries.

He then bowled the eighth over of the innings and leaked nine runs before providing a decent 14th over of just four runs. Karunaratne, however, once again proved ruinous as he bowled the most expensive over of the day. The right-armer gave away 18 runs in his fourth over. Karunaratne bowled too full where Iyer picked him for 16 runs in just four deliveries.

The Sri Lankan all-rounder, who ended with a figure of 4-0-46-0, will hope for a better outing in the second T20I.

#1. Hit - Ishan Kishan (India)

Unlike his struggling white-ball series against West Indies, Ishan Kishan produced a superlative knock in the first T20I against Sri Lanka.

The left-hander, who is looking to solidify his place in the starting lineup, came with all the guns blazing from the get go. Taking India's score to 58 in the powerplay, Kishan played an aggressive role while Rohit took his time initially.

Kishan attacked the Lankan pacers with a comprehensive glide and power. He reached his second T20I fifty in 30 deliveries. However, his scoring shots declined following Rohit's dismissal in the 12th over. Kishan then regathered his fine touch by smashing 14 runs in three balls off Lahiru Kumara during the 16th over.

Kishan lost his wicket in the succeeding over of Dasun Shanaka. The explosive opener clobbered as many as ten boundaries and three sixes in his innings of 89 off 56 balls. The 23-year-old was named Player of the Match for his heroics.
