Indian batters were in complete control of the game for the entire duration of the day's play. Runs came in quick and easy as West Indies lacked plans and the ability to get past the formidable lineup. The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Prithvi Shaw went about their business with ease as they managed to hit boundaries in every over of the game.

However, they preferred going along the ground for the majority of the shots. It was only Rishabh Pant, who struck the first six of the Indian innings in the last over of the day. He hooked a short-pitch delivery on the third ball of the last over for a maximum towards the backward square leg region.
