West Indies bowling attack

New Zealand v West Indies - 2nd Test: Day 3
Shannon Gabriel, along with captain Jason Holder, holds the bowling reins after Kemar Roach's withdrawal

While West Indies have never been short of quality pace bowlers, few have shown as much heart as captain Jason Holder, Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel have in the recent past. With over 350 wickets between them, the three bowlers are renowned for bowling long spells and keep coming at the batsmen under all circumstances. However, West Indies suffered a huge blow to their prospects with Roach flying back home just a few days ago, due to his grandmother's death.

However, West Indies have talented bowlers for backup - in the form of Keemo Paul and Sherman Lewis. Their spin department is headed by the experienced leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who would expect some assistance from batting all-rounder and off-spinner Roston Chase, and young left-arm slow bowler Jomel Warrican. While most of their bowlers are yet to play in India, hot and humid conditions similar to those in the West Indies would ensure the bowlers don't waste too much time in finding their feet. How they hold their nerve in tough situations is yet to be seen.
