India have quite a strong ODI setup, as evident from the 16:5 win-loss ratio since the beginning of 2017. But with just 18 games to go before the World Cup begins, India should look to improve the bench strength. A strong bench is of utmost importance in a lengthy tournament like the World Cup since the probability of major players getting injured midway of the tournament is always high.

New faces in the squad have to be given ample opportunities. Rishabh and Khaleel, who are in the squad for the first two games should be given enough game time in this series. Also as the series goes ahead, resting some more senior players and investing in some youngsters who are in the selectors' radars will be a great step towards improving the bench strength.

It will not be a bad idea to give Shaw a go at the top in the latter half of the series, considering his style of play might be the valuable for India in the world cup, where he can be selected as a backup opener along with Rahul.
