West Indies
1. Kieran Powell (4/10)
Another disappointing knock by the Windies dynamic opener Kieran Powell saw him perishing for just 18 runs. He was looking good at the start and was playing some aggressive shots. Unable to control his aggression, the opener was caught at the boundary.
2. Chandrapaul Hemraj (6.5/10)
Chandrapaul Hemraj, the second Windies opener, provided a good start to the Windies as he scored a quick fire 32 off just 24 balls. He took Shami and Umesh to cleaners in the power play and deposited them all around until he failed to read a Kuldeep Yadav googly and was bowled.
3. Shai Hope (8.5/10)
One of Windies most promising batsmen turned up tonight and almost saw his team through. Shai Hope scored 123 off 134 balls and played a very mature knock. He paced his innings nicely and stayed till the end. It was a top batting effort by Windies No.3.
4. Marlon Samuels (4/10)
One of the senior most players in the team, Marlon Samuels, struggled badly against Kuldeep and was cast down by the chinaman for just 13 runs. Although he took the pivotal wicket of Rishabh Pant while bowling but could not help his team with the bat.
5. Rovman Powell (5/10)
Rovman Powell came in after the wicket of Hetmyer and had to carry the momentum of the innings. He started off well, hitting Umesh for 2 boundaries but soon faded away to the mystery of Kuldeep Yadav. He scored run a ball 18.
6. Shimron Hetmyer (9/10)
It was another gem of an innings from Shimron Hetmyer who went berserk in the middle overs and scored 94 runs off just 64 balls. He smashed every Indian bowler whether a spinner or pacer. His attacking innings laid a very good foundation for the Windies win.
7. Jason Holder (.5/10)
The Windies captain had a very poor time in the field as he gave away 50 runs in just 6 overs. He was smashed all over the park by the Indian batsman and did not come back for his last spell. With the bat as well Holder never helped the Windies cause and was run out after scoring just 12 off 23 balls.
8. Ashley Nurse (7/10)
Ashley Nurse had a nice outing in the match as he took 2 important wickets in his quota of 10 overs giving away only 46 runs. The off-spinner first removed the dangerous looking Dhawan and then got rid of a well-settled Ambati Rayadu. He was also excellent in taking the reviews.
9. Devendra Bishoo (5/10)
The Windies leg-spinner, Bishoo, had an average day at the office. He went wicketless in the match and conceded 48 runs in his 10 overs. On a pitch that was assisting spinners, a lot more was expected from him.
10. Kemar Roach (4.5/10)
Kemar Roach started well with the ball, bowling economically and chipping away with the wicket of Rohit Sharma, but in his return spell, he was at the receiving end of Virat Kohli who hit him all over the park. The pacer ended with figures of 10-0-67-1.
11. Obed McCoy (6.5/10)
It was not exactly a dream debut for the tall Windies pacer as he gave away 71 runs in his 9 overs taking 2 wickets. But the figures not always depict the true story as the debutant bowled with a lot of heart and also took the important wicket of MS Dhoni.
