Umesh Yadav produced brilliant performances in the series, especially when he was under the pressure of fighting for his place in the team.

His response to the competition was encouraging. Also, there was no Shardul Thakur as he was injured and had to leave the field, so he was the only fast bowler left for the hosts. The Saurashtra pacer took 10 wickets on a pitch which had nothing on offer for the fast bowlers which is an incredible feat. Now in Australia with the Kookaburra ball he could be a tempting option ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
