The scene in the Indian Cricket team is one which can be related to gross over dependence on a few players. This is leading the batting to collapse, the effect in turn cascading onto the bowling and fielding.
The trend being followed is dependence on big hitters like Yuvraj and Dhoni to a great extent. This profligates the efforts put in by those players since others fail to deliver the goods. The result of all this mishap is being humbled by excellent bowling attacks. Some adamantly might blurt out that Virat and Suresh are to be counted in but I’d say neither of them deliver consistently and even if they do it is rare that both of them do together.
The present stint marks an important period since the team will be defending its World Cup in a foreign land. With pace and bounce and Ishant Sharma‘s inconsistency nothing can be sure on Australian turf. It would be better if the team develops a sense of all round responsibility so that the donkey load doesn’t fall upon the shoulders of a few marked men. The team is desperately missing ZAK and his come back would be an excellent addition.
The captain is always seen as the savior or the Samaritan or whatever. One must realize he is a human as well and his resources are limited. He can bail you out of trouble more often than not but he is no superman. The batting form of the team as a whole has been quotidian in the recent past. It is time to buck up and deliver some swashbuckling performances to set the tone for the big matches to follow.Hope the initial jitters pass and the ODI series is played out effectively.
A lot will depend on Sir Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin‘s shoulders if India have any chance of trouncing their opponents.
