Murali Kartik
Murali Kartik, many would agree, did not do justice to his potential. The thinking cricketer that he was, he should have gone on to represent his country in more than just 8 Tests, 37 ODIs and a solitary T20I. That T20I was against Australia in Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on October 20, 2007.
This was the first T20I to take place in India, a country where T20 followership was on the rise after the ICC WT20 that they had won. Australia scored 166 runs batting first and the spinners played an important role in containing them. Kartik went wicketless but gave away just 27 runs in his spell. India went on to win the match comfortably.
