# 5 Kepler Wessels

Kepler Wessels was the head coach of Chennai Super Kings for only one season in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. Under him, the Chennai side captained by MS Dhoni reached the finals losing out to the flamboyant Rajasthan Royals side. Stephen Fleming, who incidentally played under him in IPL 2008, took over the side as head coach from the next season and has done wonders with the franchise.
Kepler Wessels was the first international cricketer to play ODI cricket for 2 different countries – Australia and South Africa. Many other players have emulated that record since then. After his association with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018, he was associated with the South African side, Highveld Lions.
In the IPL 2008 edition, Chennai Super Kings won 9 games in 16 matches with a win percentage of 56.25. He is on the list as the 5th best coach in the IPL history.
