Defending champions India will announce their final 15-man World Cup squad on January 6, it has been confirmed. The squad for the upcoming tri-series involving Australia and England will also be picked on the same day.
“The selection of the squad for the tri-series and World Cup will be done at 1 pm in Mumbai on January 6,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said.
The tri-series, which will be perfect preparation for the Indians ahead of the mega event, will begin on January 16 with the final being played at the WACA, Perth, on February 1.
A preliminary 30-man World Cup squad was announced last month by the Sandeep Patil-led selection panel, with the big guns Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh all being left out.
