India's 5 most valuable ODI players of 2016

Shankar

3.Umesh Yadav

Perhaps, India’s most improved bowler of 2016 in the limited-overs format. In the past 18 months or so, Umesh Yadav has been pigeon-holed as a Test bowler. But the Vidarbha pacer showed improvements in his bowling, after a poor start to 2016 in the series, against New Zealand at home.

In the 5 matches that he played in that series, Umesh picked up 8 wickets and was very impressive with the new ball, an area which he has struggled in the past, leaking far too many runs for the team’s liking.

However, in the series against New Zealand, he was a lot more consistent and was rewarded with some early breakthroughs that helped both him and the team.

There is talk that he, along with a few other bowlers may be given a breather for the limited-overs series against England, but if he does play then he will surely look to carry his form into that series as well.
