Following the revised schedule for the Test matches against India, Cricket Australia (CA) have now come up with a couple of changes to the triangular One Day International (ODI) series that follows the four Tests – with England being the third team.
The first two ODIs have, now, been interchanged, i.e., the tri-series that was supposed to start off with the home team facing India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 16 will now see a face-off between England and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) as its first match.
Changes made to facilitate Indian players’ recovery
A Cricket Australia release said that the switch has been made "to provide the Indian players appropriate recovery time after the tour match which follows the Sydney Test”. The practice one day game that India were slated to play against England on January 12 has also been cancelled; however, they will be compensated with a game against a different opponent on an yet unconfirmed date.
James Sutherland, the Cricket Australia CEO, said: “In light of recent scheduling changes, we have attempted to minimise the impact on the Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series. We appreciate the patience of our fans as we continue to work through the impacts of these changes.
"At the same time, we look forward to an exciting Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series with England and India, which will be a fitting lead-in to the ICC Cricket World Cup commencing in February. We thank the BCCI and ECB for their support and understanding throughout this difficult time."
