This incident happened at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 5, 2004.
Batting on 91, the in-form Rahul Dravid was hit by a nasty bouncer from Brett Lee which slit his right earlobe during the fourth and final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Series.
Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar retired back to the pavilion as captain Sourav Ganguly declared the Indian innings. The Bangalorean did not sustain any major injuries and returned to the field with a bandaged ear.
Dravid was getting treatment when Indian manager Shivlal Yadav indicated to Ganguly it was time to declare. India declared at 2-211 in its second innings. The match would later end in a draw.
