The Indian Premier League (IPL) technical committee has approved Karnataka left-arm pacer Sreenath Aravind as a replacement for Adam Milne after the New Zealand pacer was ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing IPL season.
Milne, who was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2015 auction for Rs 70 lakh, had been carrying a heel injury since New Zealand’s World Cup quarter-final win against the West Indies.
The 31-year-old Aravind played a very crucial role in Karnataka’s title defence of the Ranji Trophy earlier this year by picking up 42 wickets. He had also represented RCB in 2011 and 2012 and was the highest wicket-taker for RCB in the 2011 season with 21 wickets from 13 games.
RCB have been languishing at the bottom of the table having won just one out of the three games played so far. With the return of Mitchell Starc to the side, they will be hoping for a much-needed boost to their hopes this campaign.
