The Indian Premier League in into its 9th season and different franchises have all invested heavily to build their teams. The IPL auction is an event in itself with money being splurged and players being bought and sold.
In the jungle, there are different players who are almost like globe-trotters, and in the quest of forming a team which has all the bases covered, sometimes the entire team is restructured. Different players are released and many different acquired. Players very often do not quite fit into the scheme of things of a particular team, and hence are released. It is a franctic process and over the years there have been players who have played for different teams in different seasons.
We take a look at the list of players who have changed sides on most ocassions in the different seasons of the Indian Premier League.
Parthiv Patel
The dimunitive left-hander from Gujarat has had to travel a lot in the nine seasons and he has been a part of as many as 6 different franchises.
Parthiv started off his IPL sojourn with Chennai Super Kings for whom he played 3 years, and then has been on a costant move.
Chennai Super Kings | 2008-2010 |
Kochi Tuskers India | 2011 |
Deccan Chargers | 2012 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad | 2013 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 2014 |
Mumbai Indians | 2015- present |
Aaron Finch
The burly right hander from Australia was the number one batsman till quite recently and he has a stupendous T20 record all over the globe. Finch, however has not enjoyed success anywhere close in the IPL, and hence has not a been a regular component of any side.
He too admits the same, when asked about his experience of playing in different sides, Finch was blunt in his assesment when he said, “ I just didn't perform well enough to last a long time in my previous franchises.”
However, he has started well this time with the Gujarat Lions and would love to continue the form.
Rajasthan Royals | 2010 |
Delhi Daredevils | 2011-2012 |
Pune Warriors India (now defunct) | 2013 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad | 2014 |
Mumbai Indians | 2015 |
Gujarat Lions | 2016-Present |
Dinesh Karthik
The wicket-keeper batsman from Tamil Nadu has been a stalwart in the domestic tournaments and has also International experience, but like his international career, Karthik has never settled into any team for a substantial time.
There is no doubt as far as his talent is concerned, but then what lets him and his team down is the temperament. He can win games with his bat and is a brilliant gloveman, hence he never has gone unsold and teams are willing to spend a hefty amount on him.
Karthik too starts a new journey with the Gujarat Lions and would love to showcase his prowess. He too has started off well.
Delhi Daredevils | 2008-2010 & 2014 |
Kings XI Punjab | 2011 |
Mumbai Indians | 2012-2013 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 2015 |
Gujarat Lions | 2016-Present |
Praveen Kumar
Praveen Kumar burst onto the scene in the 2008 triumph against Australia down under, and was an instant success.
The bowler has not quite lived up to the expectations at the international level but has quite a reputation in the domestic set-up. Praveen can swing the ball both ways and is also very handy in the death overs.
He is quite a street smart cricketer and has done rather well for the different teams he has played for, but unfortunately he too is a regular mover as far as franchises are concerned.
He was also unsold in the 2014 auctions, but then was later picked up Mumbai Indians.
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 2008-2010 |
Kings XI Punjab | 2011-2013 |
Mumbai Indians | 2014 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad | 2015 |
Gujarat Lions | 2016-Present |
Rudra Pratap Singh
The left arm swing bowler was one of the unsung heroes of the 2007 World T20 winning squad, and was a key component of the Indian team in all formats. He was a bright spark in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League too, but then ever since he has lost his swing and penetration it has all been a downhill slide.
He has faced the consequences too, as his fitness became an issue and he was never the bowler he once was. He has been picked up by franchises but has under performed and has been subsequently released. He played for the Rising Pune Supergiants, but was released before this season began.
Deccan Chargers | 2008-2010 |
Kochi Tuskers Kerala | 2011 |
Mumbai Indians | 2012 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 2013 |
Gujarat Lions | 2016 |
