MS Dhoni has always been one of the most consistent players in the IPL, finishing games time and again for the Chennai Super Kings. However, he has not had the same luck with his new franchise, as he had a poor season with the bat as well as in marshalling his troops.

Dhoni scored only 284 runs in 12 innings. Although his batting average might be just above 40, it has to be considered that he remained not-out on five occasions. The fifty and the only notable innings he played was in Pune's last league match against Kings XI Punjab where he scored 64* off 32 balls to give his side a last-ball win.

In addition to his batting, there were many matches when he showed a certain incompetence in strategising with the team selection and also in not using his bowlers wisely.
