The IPL Auctions 2018 brought a lot of surprises, like some of the big names going unsold and the bringing in of many new faces. This edition of the IPL is hosting many players for the first time like D'Arcy Short, Evin Lewis, and Jorfa Archer.
Performing well in the debut match in any tournament is not an easy task, especially due to the pressure. However, this season is seeing some exceptional talents who are giving match-winning performances from the very first game of their debut season.
While there are many players this season who did exceptionally well in their first match itself, here is a look at the top four players who impressed on their debut match.
#4 Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Afganistan became a surprise producer of quality spinners and Mujeeb Ur Rahman is the latest one to come through the ranks of the emerging Asian powerhouse.
After being picked for ₹3.2 crore in the IPL auctions, Mujeeb introduced himself to rest of the league by picking 2/28 in his debut match.
He registered six wickets so far this season and is his team's most economical bowler with an economy of 6.91. His mystery spin proved to be difficult for batsmen to deal, and also, 51 dot bowls are already registered to his name in just six matches.
Bowling was considered to be KXIP's weakness prior to the tournament. But they proved the critics wrong and are bowling impressively so far this season.
#3 Jorfa Archer

After impressing with his performances at BBL, Jorfa Archer was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping price of ₹7.2 crore.
The West Indian failed to feature for the first few weeks of the tournament due to his injury. He finally regained his fitness and made his debut in a game against Mumbai Indians. He scalped 4/22 in his first match and earned the Man of the Match award for his impressive performance.
Archer consistently bowls at the speed of 140+ and is clinical during the death overs. Rajasthan Royals struggled with their bowling department this season, however, Jorfa Archer's availability can change the situation for them.
#2 Liam Plunkett

After being unsold in the IPL Auction 2018, Liam Plunkett was signed in as a replacement for the injured Kagiso Rabade by Delhi Daredevils.
The English pacer didn't get his chance in DD's first five games of the tournament. But when he finally got the chance, he grabbed it with both hands as he bowled superbly and took 3/17 in his four overs.
Kings XI Punjab's batsmen struggled against him and managed to put just 143 runs on the board. He dismissed the danger-man, KL Rahul along with Mayank Aggarwal and Karun Nair.
Liam Plunkett featured in just one match for DD this season but is likely to get many more opportunities after his debut performance.
#1 Mayank Markande

One of the finds of the season, Mumbai Indians' Mayank Markande is making a name for himself this season and is in contention to win the Purple Cap.
Markande announced his arrival in his first game against CSK where he took three wickets and conceded just 23 runs. The Punjab-born spinner followed this up with an even better spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad where he took four wickets.
He took ten wickets in six matches so far this season with an impressive bowling strike rate of 12.00.
The 20-year-old impressed everyone with his performances this season and will be key in Mumbai Indians' push for the top four finish after a poor start of the season.
