Indian Premier League (IPL) has already kicked off and has produced many mouth-watering clashes in the first week of the season. The race for top four has already begun and some of the teams have started off really well.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in great form winning all the first 3 matches and are at the top of the league with 6 points. The main reason behind their overwhelming success is how smartly the SRH management built their core team during the IPL auction.
Let us find out the key points why SRH will be the most successful team.
#5 Back up players

When the IPL auction was done and dusted, it was the 2016 IPL champions Hyderabad which looked the strongest team on paper. Not only the core squad looked strong, but also the backup players looked equally strong.
SRH has backup players for each and every category. Before the ball-tampering saga, David Warner was the mainstay in the batting line-up along with Shikhar Dhawan. After Warner was suspended in IPL, the team had already Kane Williamson as a backup batsman.
In the bowling department, SRH has Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi, and Natrajan while in the all-rounder department, they have Carlos Braithwaite and Mohammad Nabi. Shreevats Goswami is the backup keeper for Wriddiman Saha.
#4 Strong bowling attack

SRH has looked the best bowling attack in the tournament and has dominated the opposition batsmen with their accurate bowling. Billy Stanlake, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Siddharth Kaul have been in top form with their pace bowling.
The spin-duo of Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan has been impressive and have choked the runs in the middle overs. Sandeep Sharma, who played against Mumbai in place of Bhuvneshwar, ended with figures of 25-2 in 4 overs which showed the depth in the bowling line-up.
#3 Top order in a sublime form

In order to be successful in a big IPL tournament like IPL, it is important for any team that the top order performs consistently. SRH has Wriddiman Saha and Shikhar Dhawan as openers while Kane Williamson is the perfect batsman at number 3.
Dhawan's batting form is the biggest positive for Hyderabad and has continued his dominance in IPL 2018. Saha has looked in great form who recently scored a 20-ball century in a T20 inter-club match.
Williamson last year performed decently for SRH and scored crucial runs at the top of the order.
#2 Reliable middle order

SRH over the years had lacked stability in the middle order and relied heavily on top order. This year in the IPL auction, team management bought Manish Pandey for Rs 11 crore thereby adding more depth in the batting order.
Besides Pandey, SRH had bought Shakib Al Hasan, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan which made the middle order more strong. Carlos Braithwaite and Mohammad Nabi can also add extra power if required.
#1 Williamson as a leader

The ball-tampering saga in the South Africa series had a huge impact on Australian team as the Australian board suspended David Warner and Steve Smith for one year. As a result, both players were also banned from IPL.
It was a huge blow for Hyderabad as they would miss Warner not only as a captain but also as a destructive batsman. SRH rightly chose Williamson as their leader and a reliable top-order batsman who can hold the innings together for the team.
Williamson has been really impressive with his captaincy and also looked in great touch with the bat scoring crucial 50 against Kolkata. Willamson's ability to stay calm under pressure can help Hyderabad to clinch the IPL title this time around.
