2009 Champions: Deccan Chargers

The second edition of IPL was played in South Africa because of general elections in India. Interestingly, the two bottom-most team of IPL 2008 viz Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers contested for the finals in the second edition of the tournament.
Deccan Chargers, led by the legendary Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, won the second edition of IPL after defeating Anil Kumble's RCB by six runs in the final.
Batting Records
Most runs: Chennai Super Kings' explosive batsman Mathew Hayden was the highest scorer in the second edition of the tournament with 572 runs in 12 matches averaging 52.
Most sixes: The winning captain, Adam Gilchrist from Deccan Chargers, hit the most number of sixes (29) in the second edition of the league.
Highest individual score: RCB's Manish Pandey held the record of the highest individual score in the second edition of IPL. He scored an unbeaten 114 against DC. Interestingly, Manish was the only Indian to hit a century in the second edition.
Bowling Records
Most wickets: RP Singh from DC was the highest wicket-taker in the second edition of IPL. He took 23 wickets.
Best bowling figures: Anil Kumble’s 5 for 5 from 3.1 overs against RR was the best bowling figure in 2009.
