Kolkata Knight Riders play twice in the next three matches, and there is also a possibility of carrying the team’s players to their third that follows a couple of matches later, so this is about the right time to bring Andre Russell in.

What makes the decision easier for me is that out of the three opposition bowlers - Trent Boult, Chris Morris and Jofra Archer - who are capable of bowling the lengths that could trouble the West Indian in these fixtures, two of them may not even play. Even if they do, there is always his bowling that could come to your rescue.

It is unclear as to how KKR plan to proceed with Sunil Narine’s batting position, which rules him out. Chris Lynn doesn’t look at his best, but if you don’t have Robin Uthappa, like I do, he is still worth a shot.

I am not interested in any of the Delhi Daredevils players, as they play only once in the next six matches. But If you are only looking at this fixture, then Rishabh Pant and Gautam Gambhir stand out, as the spin trio of the Knight Riders could get the better of their overseas imports, Jason Roy and Glenn Maxwell.

Pant and Gambhir, on the other hand, are exceptional players of spin bowling and will feel at home playing against a side whose main threat is its spin department. Chris Morris, if he plays, is a solid option too, courtesy of his all-round skills.
