With Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s recovery status unclear, the only other standout fantasy pick for this match is Shikhar Dhawan, who is already in my team. Rashid Khan, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell - in that order - are the next best options.

Perhaps noticing that teams are not willing to risk much against Rashid, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been getting more defensive in using him. While the ploy hasn’t yet yielded the desired results from a fantasy point of view, it won't be long before he is on the right side of it.

Uthappa has been looking in pristine touch as well, very similar to how he started off IPL 2017, and with a bit of luck against Rashid, who he managed alright last season, should be amongst the runs today.

Russell, on the other hand, is not going to come out every time and blast bowlers the way he did against Chennai Super Kings, as his batting is not without flaws. Ever since his first Big Bash season, teams have figured out that he doesn't like hard lengths. It is just that Chennai did not have bowlers who were capable of exploiting that weakness.

The Caribbean all-rounder will definitely come into my scheme of things a little later, but not against this Sunrisers attack who have all the bases covered. So the choice for me is between Rashid and Uthappa.

Rashid is a better bet if you just look at this match, but with Kolkata Knight Riders set to play four times in the next nine matches, Uthappa suits more for seasonal fantasy purposes.

Sunil Narine’s batting should be sorted out by the Sunrisers bowling attack, and his bowling, with him being cautious after getting reported for a suspect action in the Pakistan Super League, isn’t something that can make you pay for not having him in your team. Chris Lynn faces an uphill task too.
