Guru’s team ahead of RCB vs SRH: V Kohli, AB de Villiers, S Dhawan, K Williamson, KL Rahul, K Pandya, J Archer, K Gowtham, J Bumrah, M Markande, S Kaul
With Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers already in my team, no other Royal Challengers Bangalore player interests me in this fixture. Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, the next best RCB picks, can be backed to give you a couple of wickets each, but this isn’t the time to be banking on bowlers, more so when they aren’t going to be bowling at the death.
Moeen Ali would be a decent differential normally, but the problem here is that there is no clarity on his batting position. And even if he is back opening the innings, it will be against the league’s best bowling attack; I wouldn’t want to bet on that.
From Sunrisers Hyderabad, I have decided to rope in both Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson, as I see me being able to carry them to their next fixture.
Unlike the last couple of matches, it isn’t going to be an easy ride for Dhawan today, though, as he has to get past Umesh and Chahal. The Kiwi, however, will be at complete ease against this RCB bowling attack. All he needs is for one of the openers to fall early.
I am leaving Rashid Khan out as the short boundaries at the Chinnaswamy and the pairing of Kohli and De Villiers should help in limiting the damage even if he bowls well. If you have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, stick with him; while he might not do much today, the next one, against Kolkata Knight Riders, could be huge.
