I don’t see Alex Hales coming into the side today, as the Sunrisers Hyderabad management will see Mohammad Nabi’s off-spin as a potential wicket-taking option against Chris Gayle. And that would mean Kane Williamson will continue to open the innings, giving me no choice but to get him in.

Whether or not Rashid Khan comes into the game depends on how long Chris Gayle lasts, and with him facing off against a Rajasthan Royals middle order next that has the likes of Heinrich Klassen, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler, who aren't used to him, keeping him out could turn out to be an elementary mistake.

With Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar already in my side, Gayle is the only other capped player who is worth considering for this match. I was always planning to take him out after the last match against Delhi Daredevils, as doing so gave me an option to work with the vacant slot for the next 11 matches that followed.

The only KXIP match in this period had them facing Sunrisers away, whose bowling attack can be trusted with getting the job done. With Billy Stanlake not available, it won’t be as straightforward though, but in Bhuvneshwar, Sandeep Sharma and Nabi they have the bowling options to not make it easier for him. I see this as a risk worth taking.

Mayank Agarwal has looked good in almost all the matches he has played but just hasn’t been able to put an innings together, which makes Siddarth Kaul my uncapped pick for the day.
