#2 Kolkata Knight Riders (158*, Brendon McCullum)

Has it actually been 10 years since we witnessed a blistering start to IPL? I mean, it just feels like yesterday that two batsmen came out to bat for the first time in IPL, and one of them just completely destroyed the opposition bowling lineup with an inning that will be remembered for a long, long time.
Kolkata Knight Riders, before they were revamped under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, endured a rather dry spell in IPL for 3 years, scrapping near the bottom of the table in all those years. However, it wasn't the case when they played their first ever match in Kolkata in 2008, as Brendon McCullum played the inning of his lifetime and gave IPL the perfect start it needed.
Asked to bat first by Royal Challengers Bangalore, KKR got off to a stunning start as McCullum took the charge on the bowlers from the word go. Not caring who the bowler at the other end was, McCullum played like a one-man army and bashed the RCB bowlers for 10 boundaries and 13 maximums enroute to a then-highest individual score of 158* runs in just 73 balls.
His inning catapulted KKR to a gargantuan total of 222/3 in 20 overs. Already rattled by the decimation of their bowlers, the target turned out to be an uphill climb as they collapsed for a mere 82 runs.
