The 5-year tenure of Deccan Chargers as an IPL franchise was nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Despite winning the tournament's second edition and making it to the play offs in the following season, DC endured a rather dry spell in all the remaining seasons.

Their maiden season can be, at best, termed horrendous, as the team only managed to win 2 out of their 14 matches. However, it was in the inaugural season in 2008 that a DC player scored the highest individual score for the franchise, and who better to take the honours of this record than the one and only Andrew Symonds?

Facing a strong Rajasthan Royals line-up, Deccan Chargers' inning did not start in the best possible way, with the team losing 2 wickets in just 3 overs. Andrew Symonds then took charge and started hitting the ball all around the park.

Accompanied by a young Rohit Sharma, Symonds smashed the RR bowlers for 11 fours and 7 sixes en route to a memorable 117* from just 53 balls and took DC to a mammoth total of 214/5. Even though RR managed to win the match courtesy a pair of blistering knocks by Pathan and Smith, Symonds etched his name in the history books as he scored the highest individual score by a DC batsman.
