Chennai Super Kings' Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out of IPL 2018 with a hamstring injury. The Pune-born batsman sustained the injury during the opening game of the tournament between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7.

Jadhav sustained a grade 2 hamstring tear while batting during Chennai's thrilling chase, and had to be retired hurt in the middle. He returned in the last over of the match and took the Super Kings past the finishing line with a six of the fourth delivery and a boundary of the fifth.

The batsman had conceded at the post-match ceremony that he was likely to be out of the tournament for a while, although the extent of injury wasn't clear then.

"I might not play for the next couple of weeks. I could not run and I told Immy (Imran Tahir) I will take all six balls (in the final over). With six balls and seven runs, they were bowling same lengths and I just needed a big hit, (Imran Tahir) I will take all six balls (in the final over).
