Defending 155 on a batting paradise in Bengaluru wasn't going to be easy for the bowlers. So, Kings XI had to come up with something out of the box to push RCB under pressure.

In order to do so, Ashwin, who is known for his witty thinking about his game, was spot on to ask Axar Patel to open the attack.

Patel, who was retained by the franchise, had been given the responsibility to do some early damage and the all-rounder with the ball in his hand came up with his own plans.

He got the big scalp of Brendon McCullum on his second delivery to give his team the first strike of the game.

The move paid off as Punjab managed to keep the scoring rate under control in the first six overs.
