#1 217/7 by Rajasthan Royals vs Deccan Chargers - Hyderabad, 2008
The highest run chase came in the inaugural edition of IPL. Deccan Chargers reached a mammoth target of 214/5 on the back of a superb century by Andrew Symonds, who scored 117 runs from 53 balls. When the Rajasthan Royals came out to chase such a daunting total, they lost Kamran Akmal at the start of the third over.
It was the beginning of a 98 run partnership between Graeme Smith and Yusuf Pathan, of which Pathan scored the bulk of the runs making 61 runs from just 28 balls.
Smith continued to bat deep into the innings, scoring 71 from 45 deliveries, but he got out in the eighteenth over. In spite of Mohammad Kaif scoring 34 off 16 balls, Royals needed 17 runs in the final over.
Shane Warne took things in his own hands in the final and led his side to victory on the penultimate delivery by hitting a four and two sixes off three consecutive deliveries.
Result: Rajasthan Royals beat Deccan Charger by 3 wickets
