Yuvraj Singh has been one of the most senior national players to play for the league. Yuvi, who was picked up by MI for his previous records and stats wasn't utilized properly. Being questioned by the critics and fans about his career and form, the left-handed started his knock by scoring 53 against the Capitals in their league-stage game. Singh was able to score only 98 runs in 4 matches.

The 2011 World Cup man of the tournament couldn't live up to his team's expectations as he was benched for the remaining games. Yuvi's case is similar to that of Watson who had a poor run at the start of the tournament but still, he was backed by the team which led to his back to back fabulous knocks in the qualifier and the finals. The batsman wasn't neither backed nor considered as an integral part for the team.
