Only a few days are left for the IPL 2019, which is scheduled to commence on March 23. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to take on each other in the first match of the season.
Over the years, there have been many players who have shot to prominence and also made their debut in international cricket just because of their performance in IPL. On the other hand, there have also been players who were successful at the international stage but could not replicate their international successful in the Indian Premier League.
Here, we take a look at three players who will want prove themselves in IPL 2019.
#3 Mayank Agarwal
The devastating right-hand batsman Mayank Agarwal has been in tremendous form across formats in the last couple of years. He recently made his international debut for India and was very impressive in his debut Test series.
The 28-year-old might have been in great form in domestic cricket, but his performance in IPL has never been up to the mark. In his IPL career, Mayank has scored 938 from 59 innings at a poor average of 16.75 and a strike rate of 124.4. He has crossed the 50-run mark just 3 times.
Considering his potential, these stats are very mediocre. But his numbers in other domestic T20 tournaments are quite impressive. In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he has scored 1382 runs from just 43 innings at an average of 34.55 and strike rate of 136.02 with 111 being his highest score (till February 26, 2019). He has also smashed 12 fifties and 1 hundred.
The destructive right-hand batsman will surely want to improve his numbers in the upcoming edition of IPL by doing well for his franchise Kings XI Punjab.
#2 Martin Guptill
The swashbuckling Kiwi batsman Martin Guptill is one of New Zealand's best-limited overs players at the moment. In recent times, he has been in quite good form in the limited overs format.
Guptill is one of those successful international players who has not tasted success in IPL yet. The 32-year-old has played 10 matches in IPL till date and has scored just 189 runs at a mediocre average 21 and a strike rate of 132.17.
However, his T20I numbers are very impressive as he has smashed 2272 runs from 74 innings at a decent average of 33.91, with 105 being his highest score. He has hit 14 fifties and 2 centuries, and is currently the 2nd highest run scorer in T20Is.
Guptill will be seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the forthcoming season of IPL, and he will surely want to replicate his international success in IPL this time around.
#1 Colin Munro
The last name in the list is Colin Munro. The dangerous left-hand batsman from New Zealand is one of best batsmen in 20-overs cricket at the moment. Munro is someone who can win matches single-handedly for his team and can destroy any bowling attack on his day.
Munro's T20I career stats are amazing as he has scored 1411 runs from 47 innings at an average of 33.6 and an impressive strike rate of 162. 109 is his highest score, and he has smashed 9 fifties and 3 centuries.
But his performance in IPL has not been good at all. In IPL, he has played 9 matches and has scored just 93 runs at a very poor average of 11.62 and a strike rate of 130.99.
In spite of having a bad season last year, Colin Munro was retained by Delhi Capitals for IPL 2019. He will surely want to prove himself in the biggest T20 league by performing well with the bat.
