#5 Robin Uthappa - Kolkata Knight Riders

Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa was a regular member of the Indian national team a few years back. He last played for India in 2015 and has not been considered as an option thereafter. Apart from that, he has not forwarded his profile with notable knocks during this period to force the selectors to look at him.

Now at 33 years of age, he is one of the oldest players in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp alongside Dinesh Karthik, who himself has made an impressive comeback to the national team after being sidelined for years. Uthappa can take inspiration from his KKR skipper to make a success story in IPL 2019 with some solid performances.

Strength: A middle-order batsman who can also play in the top order

With the much-increased competition to get into the Indian team, Uthappa will have to make IPL 2019 an unbelievable one in his career. If he can do that, Indian selectors will love to have an experienced middle-order batsman on their radar, perhaps even as a solution to the No.4 conundrum India have at the moment. After all, who doesn’t like to see Uthappa coming down the pitch and smacking the ball to the stands?
