The major area of concern for Rajasthan Royals last season was their opening pair. Though they have an explosive player like D'Arcy Short as their opening batsman, he has failed to give Rajasthan Royals the good starts during the last IPL.

The young Australian cricketer, D'Arcy Short was bought by RR franchise after his spectacular performances in the Big Bash League (BBL). But, he failed to live up to the expectation as he scored just 115 runs in seven matches at a poor average of 16.
His poor performance at the top order affected Rajasthan's chances in IPL 2018. On the other hand, Murali Vijay has not got many opportunities last season with CSK. He played just one game and managed to score just 12 before getting dropped from the team management. Vijay, who has scored two hundred in IPL, could be a better opening partner than D'Arcy Short for Jos Buttler.
