#3 Yuzvendra Chahal’s guile
The Champions League 2017 loss at the hands of Pakistan in the final, made the think tank ponder over one crucial issue that the Indian team was not able to address, wickets in the middle overs.
In a move that has since then yielded rich dividends, India chose to drop its veteran spinners in Ravi Jadeja and Ashwin and rope in in-experienced duo of Kuldeep and Chahal. ‘Kulcha’ as they have come to be known, have revolutionized how ODI cricket is looked at in the modern day.
However, in the recent past due to a variety of reasons including, Hardik Pandya's injury followed by celebrity controversies coupled with India's desire to experiment and try out other options, Yuzvendra Chahal has had to sit out of most of the matches.
With decreased game time, his form and confidence also seemed to be hit. When Chahal finally came out to play in the blue colors in India vs Australia one day series, he looked rusty and down on confidence and he failed to pick up wickets the way he was so frequently accustomed to.
The Chahal- Kuldeep combo is without a doubt key to India's World Cup hopes. And we will all be expectantly watching to see if he Chahal can re-discover his guile, his form and his knack of picking up wickets.
