The other team that returned to the IPL after a two-year suspension, Rajasthan Royals impressed with their performances under pressure last year and made it to the playoffs. Having strengthened their squad through the auction, RR will be looking to do one better and win the IPL this year.

Ajinkya Rahane is the team captain and will have to be very consistent with the bat if they are to do any damage in the tournament. Steve Smith, who will be returning from his 12-month ban, is their x-factor and the Royals will look to him to provide the dynamism and batting needed to challenge.
