Aussie speedster Andrew Tye won the Purple cap in the 11th edition of IPL. The Perth-born player was roped in the Kings XI Punjab for a handsome ₹7.2 crores during the 2018 IPL auction.
The lanky fast bowler proved his mettle as he picked up 24 wickets in 14 matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 14.00 and economy rate of 8.00. He is also remembered for a fantastic IPL debut, where he bagged a 5-fer for the Gujarat Lions.
Tye was recently plain in the Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers and made 17 scalps in 14 matches. The 32-year-old was a late bloomer as far as the national team is concerned and made his T20I debut only in January 2016. Since then he has represented the national team in 26 T20Is and 7 ODIs.
His wicket-taking ability makes him an asset to have in the shortest format of the game.
