What's the story?
Royal Challengers Bangalore's official Twitter account took a cheeky dig at the trollers by posting a tweet which stated "Dinda academy? What's that?"
In Case you don't know…
RCB lost their first six games of the season. The fast bowlers of the team Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav have had a below par season so far. It has been the trend in the social media that a bowler that goes for runs gets tagged being from Dinda Academy. Ashok Dinda the former Indian fast bowler is known for leaking runs for the Indian team and in the IPL. Hence, people took his name.
The heart of the matter:
Today Bangalore played a match against Punjab in a must win game at home. Ashwin asked RCB to bat first after winning the toss. The home was struggling at 81/4 in one stage but recovered well due to the brilliant partnership between ABD and Stoinis. The pair added 64 runs in the last three overs which helped them to post over 200. The visitors lost Gayle early. Mayank and Rahul ensured that they will cross 100 runs by 11th over. But both of them got out in quick succession. Then from nowhere Nicholas Pooran started smashing sixes after sixes and Captain Kohli was running out of options as the left-hander was thrashing the spinners.
When Punjab needed 36 runs in three overs, Kohli decided to bowl Umesh Yadav in the 18th over. Although known for a high economy rate in the death overs the Indian fast bowler managed to give only nine runs and almost took the wicket of Pooran. He also bowled the last over and took two wickets. Finally, Umesh Yadav delivered an economical spell during the death overs. This when RCB posted a cheeky tweet but it did not go well among fans hence it was later deleted.
Later they posted another Tweet justifying why they had posted the Dinda tweet earlier.
What's next?
RCB has now won four out of last five games and moved to seventh place in the point table. They need to win the remaining three matches to stay in contention for the play-offs.
