The pace battery
Rahul Tripathi, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav.
Given the balance of their squad, KKR could either go with a devastating batting line-up or with a lethal pace bowling attack, as is outlined here. This team sees the likes of Sunil Narine and Prasidh Krishna drop out as the team management could look to knock over opposition batsmen with pure, unadulterated pace.
Here, Rahul Tripathi, moving up from his previous middle-order slot, joins Shubman Gill at the top of the order, with the batsmen coming next remaining pretty much the same, save for Rinku Singh, who makes this team not just as a batsman but as an excellent fielder, especially on the boundary.
What we really need to get excited about, however, is the bowling attack. Here, KKR could go with a 4-pronged pace attack comprising of Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson and Shivam Mavi, all of whom are capable of consistently clocking speeds in excess of 140 kmph. They will be supported by the lone spinner, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who could look to pick up a few wickets as a result of the pressure created by the quicks.
