#2 Matthew Kelly

Matthew Kelly

Matthew Kelly is a 24-year-old medium pacer who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019. However, due to the experienced overseas players available in the team, he did not get a chance to play.

This year KKR are likely to release him from the squad, and due to the lack of any performance worth showing, the other franchises might not be interested in the young bowler either.

In order to get a contract, Kelly will need to bump up his resume with numbers that impress the franchises in a league as big as the IPL. It is still early days in his career, and Kelly might eventually become a big name, but at the moment not many know the youngster.

KKR already have Andre Russell, Harry Gurney and Lockie Ferguson as overseas pace bowlers. So they might want to look at someone else with the money they save by releasing Kelly.
