Team 2 (KKR, DC, KXIP and RR):
KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik (c) (wk), Tom Curran, R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Kuldeep Yadav, Mujeeb Ur Rehman (12th man)
Openers: KL Rahul and Sanju Samson
KL Rahul is in the form of his life and should be one of the first names to walk into the side. Sanju Samson has a phenomenal record as an opener in the IPL and his genuine strokeplay makes him the ideal candidate to partner Rahul. Moreover, being an Indian player, Samson makes room for an additional overseas all-rounder.
Other options: Chris Gayle, Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan
Middle Order: Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik
The Delhi Capitals have a strong Indian core, with two India regulars Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant being the mainstays in the middle order. Iyer is in terrific form at the moment and Pant is too good a player to be left out in the IPL. Dinesh Karthik is among the few Indians who can perform the role of a designated finisher. The KKR skipper walks into the side as the captain and the wicket-keeper. The English limited-overs skipper Morgan brings in some much-needed experience and along with Russell and Karthik forms a formidable lower middle-order capable of going absolutely berserk at the death.
Other options: Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmeyer, Nitish Rana
All-rounders: Andre Russell and Tom Curran
Andre Russell with his ability to win games single-handedly makes him one of the first choice all-rounders in the IPL. Tom Curran has been drafted in by Rajasthan Royals and he is coming off a terrific run in the BBL, where he was not only amongst the wickets but also scored a number of handy knocks batting in the lower middle order. Moreover, Curran is the major death bowler in the side in the absence of the likes of Archer.
Other options: Glenn Maxwell, Sunil Narine, Axar Patel, K Gowtham
Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada and Kuldeep Yadav
R Ashwin has been one of the most underrated spinners in the IPL, especially since the wrist spinners started taking the centre stage. The former KXIP skipper has not only been amongst the wickets but has been very economical too. Kuldeep Yadav will be the ideal partner for Ashwin, being the more attacking wrist spinner.
Kagiso Rabada is considered one of the best pacers at the moment along with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah. Rabada had a dream run last season where he picked up 25 wickets in just 12 games; the highlight being the magnificent Super Over against a marauding Andre Russell.
Other options: Mohammad Shami, Amit Mishra, Chris Jordan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman
