Lack of depth in the spin department

The traditional low and slow wickets of the Eden Gardens have changed into wickets that aid faster bowlers. KKR, who once had a wealth of spin bowling options with the likes of Piyush Chawla and Shakib al Hasan in their ranks, now seem to have fallen short of options.

KKR inexplicably let go of Piyush Chawla to CSK and brought in 48-year-old Pravin Tambe, who may not feature for them because of breaching BCCI's rules and appearing in a T10 League. Sunil Narine no longer has the mystery and consistency due to which he once used to fox the batsmen, and now plays more like an all-rounder.

This means that KKR only have one experienced spinner in the form of Kuldeep Yadav, who had a very poor IPL last year. Varun Chakravarthy does not have enough IPL experience and is still an unknown commodity.

KKR have plenty of potential problems in the spin department. Kuldeep and Narine will have to be at their very best in every game in order to cover the cracks.
