#6 Rajasthan Royals - 4/10

Steve Smith returns as RR captain IPL 2020

Since their win in the inaugural season, Rajasthan Royals haven't really come close to a second crown. RR will be led by former Australian captain Steve Smith in IPL 2020 as they look to end their miserable run in the competition.

The team is currently majorly reliant on their overseas players - Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Steve Smith and Jos Buttler. Stokes' availability for IPL 2020 is also under question, further reducing their chances of winning the title.

However, as always, they are expected to play a major role in the development of young players - something that is a given, even though their performances on the field usually aren't.

#5 Kolkata Knight Riders - 5/10

KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs last season

After failing to qualify for the playoffs last season, KKR come into IPL 2020 after signing the likes of Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins and Tom Banton.

However, the 2-time IPL champions' lack of depth in batting and the absence of a settled combination doesn't bode well for them ahead of the tournament.

Captain Dinesh Karthik has marshalled his troops well recently, but the team might be too reliant on Andre Russell and Sunil Narine to bail them out of trouble. Additionally, the likes of Banton, Cummins and Morgan aren't as tested in the pressure cauldron that the IPL inevitably morphs into.

They finished 5th last season, and even if they qualify for the playoffs this time around, it is highly unlikely that they will manage to win their 3rd IPL title.

#4 Chennai Super Kings - 6/10

MS Dhoni has a job on his hands in IPL 2020

With two finals and one trophy in the last two years, CSK would've been far higher on this list, were it not for the withdrawals of vice-captain Suresh Raina and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh.

MS Dhoni's men will be perfectly at home in the UAE conditions, but with an ageing squad and minimal practice ahead of IPL 2020, it would be difficult to put them above the other teams on this list.

However, the former Indian captain always has a few tricks up his sleeve, and CSK, in all probability, will qualify for the playoffs. Beyond that, it remains to be seen if they can string together a couple of wins to pull level with MI as the most decorated team in IPL history.
