Oldest Player - Imran Tahir (40 years)
When it comes to age, Chennai Super Kings has the oldest and most experienced players. The oldest of them all is Imran Tahir. The South African bowler is 40 years old. Proving that age is just a number, the spin wizard emerged as the highest wicket-taker of IPL 2019 with 26 scalps in 17 matches. Tahir also maintained a rather impressive economy rate of 6.69 last season.
He is most popular for his feisty celebrations after taking a wicket and is a huge character on the field. The googly is Tahir's weapon of choice and he is tough to read in subcontinent conditions.
Apart from Tahir, MS Dhoni and Shane Watson are 38 years old. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh (39), Dwayne Bravo (36), Murali Vijay (35), Ambati Rayudu (34), and Suresh Raina (33) are all quite experienced. Nonetheless, all these players form the core of the team.
Youngest Player - Sam Curran (21 years)
All-rounder Sam Curran was roped in by CSK for a handsome sum of ₹ 5.5 crore for IPL 2020. Curran is just 21 years old but has match-winning abilities. The youngster plays good cameos down the order and is also a potent left-arm seamer. He scored a fifty for Punjab in the previous edition and also boasts of an excellent strike rate of 172.72.
The youngster clinched 10 wickets in 9 matches for KXIP last season. This included a hat-trick against Delhi Capitals. In the process, he became the youngest ever player to take an IPL hat-trick.
Apart from Curran, Ruturaj Gaikwad (22); R. Sai Kishore and Lungisani Ngidi (both 23) are some of the younger players in the team.
